Earlier this week the FAA approved Amazon’s drone delivery service when it approved the Amazon MK27 drone – a special drone designed for package delivery.
The new Prime Air delivery service will allow Amazon to use drones to deliver packages under 5 pounds with a range of about 15 miles.
Amazon’s CEO of the Worldwide Consumer, Jeff Wilke, noted, “We’ve been hard at work building fully electric drones that can fly up to 15 miles and deliver packages under five pounds to customers in less than 30 minutes. And, with the help of our world-class fulfillment and delivery network, we expect to scale Prime Air both quickly and efficiently, delivering packages via drone to customers within months.â€

Amazon further noted that it expects to be delivering packages within a few months – presumably in time for the 2019 holiday season.
Here at the BestTravelDrone.com we are intrigued by this new capability and excited to see where it goes in the next few years. Clearly drones have become a mainstream part of our society. Bravo Amazon!
